Head Pully

Description

The head pulley is located at the discharge point of the conveyor. It usually drives the conveyor and often has a larger diameter than other pulleys. For better traction, the head pulley is usually lagged with rubber.

Function

A head pulley, also known as a drive pulley, is a mechanical device that drives a conveyor belt. It’s usually located at the discharge end of the conveyor system, opposite the tail pulley, and is typically larger in diameter than other pulleys.

The head pulley’s main function is to transmit power from the motor to the conveyor belt, causing it to move and transport materials. It also plays a critical role in determining the system’s speed and efficiency.

Application

While the head pulley is responsible for driving the conveyor belt, the tail pulley plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the system by guiding the belt, maintaining tension, and ensuring proper alignment. The tail pulley is located at the end of the conveyor system, opposite the head pulley.
